Photo 1 placeholderMain Calming Roots Nest photoEveryday feels like groundhog day...
the same tantrums, the same power struggles, the same shit over and over and over again.
Everyday you wake up telling yourself that you are going to do it differently and that you are not going to yell...
and then it happens. AGAIN
...and you feel absolutely devastated that you couldn't keep your word to yourself... and your littles 😮💨❤️🩹
And when you lay down at night... a quiet voice in your head keeps asking:
Why is this so hard for me? What am I doing wrong?
Here's what I need you to hear first, before anything else...
You're not doing anything wrong.
You're not a bad mom.
Your child isn't a bad kid.
You're a loving, exhausted parent who has been handed a hundred conflicting opinions and ZERO real life support.
That's not a you problem. That's a support problem.
So let's build you one ❤️✨
Photo 2 placeholderCandid photo of you(with your son, or your educator years)
I've been exactly where you are.
I spent the first 12 years of my career as an Early Childhood Educator, running a daycare classroom for 3 to 5 year olds.
I absolutely loved it.
My own son came to work with me and so there was never really a line between my job and my real life.
At home, we had all the normal early years issues... power struggles, night terrors, tantrums, meltdowns, bribery. EVERYTHING.
I tried EVERYTHING in those moments... including feng shui'ing his room one late evening because I honestly didn't know what else to do in that moment.
I gave 100 percent of myself to other people's children all day and had soooo much patience BUT by the time I walked through my own front door...
I was running on fumes.
My son got what little I had left
and my husband got whatever came after that.
Most days, that was nothing 😭
It wasn't one big thing that broke me as a mother. It was quieter than that and happened over the years and I didn't realize it was happening until I was deep in it...
"I remember getting home one day after work and feeling like I was watching my own life on a TV screen instead of actually living it. I later found out from my doctor that I was deep in dissociation as my body's way to tackle my burnout and anxiety."
Then March 2020 happened, and the whole world stopped.
The daycare closed
and I was at home with just my family for 2 whole weeks.
That forced pause was the first time in years that I didn't have a million work & life tabs open.
I woke up and felt refreshed and I finally wasn't running on empty.
When I came out of the fog, I knew I couldn't go back to living that way, and I knew so many other moms were stuck exactly where I'd been.
And I realized that it wasn't solely a behavioural issue with my son to blame...
it was a ME and my nervous system issue and I had no capacity to fully stay regulated and help him when I TOO was struggling.
That's why Calming Roots exists. And it's why I built the Nest.
So that other women never need to suffer alone like I was all those years ago.
If one of these is living rent free in your head right now…
And underneath all of it, the heavier stuff nobody posts about:
- The guilt of losing your patience before 8am
- The loneliness of feeling like everyone else has it figured out
- The exhaustion that follows you from 2am straight into your whole day
- The feeling that you've lost yourself somewhere
And why that's not your fault.
You haven't been doing nothing.
You've read the books.
You've saved a hundred Instagram tips.
You've bought a course, downloaded a chart, or followed a plan that promised results in three days.
Here's why it didn't stick:
Most advice lives at one of two extremes. On one side, harsh and punitive. Cry it out, strict consequences, "just be firmer."
On the other side, SO gentle that there are no boundaries at all, OR you cave because the tantrums are extreme and you have no capacity to deal with it.
Neither one feels right in your gut, so you bounce between them and feel like you're failing at both.
Information was never really the problem.
You probably already know a good chunk of what needs to change. What you haven't had is someone beside you while you actually do it.
The missing piece was never more information.
It was that you need support while you implement it.
Everything you need, all in one NEST.

The Parenting with Confidence & Kindness Course
Lessons on sleep, behaviour, potty learning, big emotions and the everyday stuff like whining, sharing, hitting, mealtimes, and screen time and sooooo much more.
2 Monthly Live Q&A Calls
Every call starts off with a little bit of YOU time. I will intuitively plan a meditation, EFT tapping script, journaling prompt or something along those lines to get us in the zone and take some time for US as MOMS. After, we will have a Q&A time where we will discuss and answer questions for anyyyyyything mom related...
The Community Group Chat
Ask questions, share your wins, and vent about the hard moments with moms who truly get it.
The Resource Library
Printable guides, scripts, charts, and checklists you can actually use in the moment, when you need them most.
Seasonal Extras
When it feels aligned, cozy extras like moon ritual nights, reiki sessions, oracle card pulls etc... A little space that's just for you, alongside the practical parenting support.
Want even more support?
For the seasons when you need me right in your back pocket, Nest members can add 6 weeks of private text support with me for $400 CAD.
This isn't sold anywhere else, because I've watched too many families buy a package, get a plan, and then have nowhere to turn once life gets messy again.
The Nest is that place to get FULL SUPPORT FOR YOU ❤️✨
Photo 3 placeholderCommunity photo(moms together or a live call)
The calm middle ground you've been looking for.
The Calming Roots Nest brings together moms of young children so we can step out of the reactive parenting cycle and into a rhythm of connection & confidence in your parenting.
Not harsh. Not permissive.
❤️ Respectful, with real boundaries, and REAL LIFE SUPPORT ✨
Think of me as the Costco of mom support.
1 monthly membership = everything you need.
NO running around to five different specialists. I work with moms to tackle behavioural issues, sleep issues & potty training.
Get support and actual real life, easy to implement strategies that fit your daily life and that ACTUALLY WORK and STOP the behaviours.
The 3 R's: how we do things in the Nest
Respectful
Talk to your child the way you'd want to be talked to. Would you be okay with a friend or your partner yelling at you, or brushing you off? Neither is your child, and I will show you new ways of communicating with them to get them TO ACTUALLY LISTEN IN THE MOMENT.
And that includes being respectful to yourself in the hard moments, not dwelling on what went wrong and starting to congratulate yourself for the 1% changes you are making in your parenting.
Responsive
Tantrums are the first sign of something being off for your child.
In the Nest I will teach you how to become a behaviour detective (not a drill sergeant) so that you can get to the root cause of the behaviour and we can find a solution together to make it STOP.
Reinforcing
Everything we do teaches our kids something, on purpose or not. If quiet play gets ignored and fighting gets full attention = your child will learn fast which one works best to get your attention QUICK.
So we flip it, and start noticing the good stuff out loud, so that your child realizes the best way to get your attention is by doing the WANTED behaviours.
Your little one isn't a bad child, they are lacking a skill and in the Nest you will learn how to teach them this to get the behaviours to STOP.
Small steps. Big changes.
I don't believe in overhauling your whole family overnight. I believe in a 1% change every day. Small, bite sized steps that feel doable for you and your child.
That way nobody gets overwhelmed and the new habits actually stick.
Over a few months those tiny shifts quietly build a completely different home.
The Nest is perfect for you if…
- You're a mom of a baby, toddler, preschooler, or kindergartener, and you're bone tired in a way sleep alone won't fix
- You're dealing with sleep struggles, tantrums, power struggles, aggression or potty resistance (or all of the above)
- Cry it out has never sat right with you
- You've tried the books and courses and need someone beside you while you put it into practice
- You want to stop yelling
- You want to be a part of a community of moms who get it, where you can say the hard & unhinged things out loud without being judged
It isn't a fit if…
- You're looking for a quick fix or a one size fits all script
- You want strict, punishment based methods or cry it out sleep training
- You're not open to looking at yourself and being responsible to start and make a change for your family
What the journey often looks like.
Every family moves at its own pace. Here's what it often looks like for moms inside the Nest.
You exhale
You log in, introduce yourself and realize you're not the only one.
For the first time in a long time, someone says "that sounds so hard" instead of "have you tried…"
You start the E course: Parenting with Confidence & Kindness and pick one small thing to try. Just one.
You start to see the pattern
You're noticing what's really behind the tantrums: the tiredness, the transitions, the need for connection.
You've got a few go to scripts that actually work.
Life is starting to feel more predictable, and the whole Nest cheered for your first win.
The new normal
The small steps have added up. Fewer battles, and when the hard moments come, you respond instead of react.
You are yelling less, and when you do slip up, you know how to repair it without spiralling into guilt.
You stop "winging it" and start trusting yourself.
You're rooted
Your entire home feels calmer. Your child has learnt what to expect and knows how you are going to respond to the tantrums.
You've got a toolbox for whatever stage comes next, and you've got your people in your back pocket cheering you on!!!
You're a confident mom who knows her child, trusts her gut, and finally has a little something left over for herself everyday.
The mom who doesn't need to Google every hard moment at midnight. The one who knows her child, trusts herself and parents from regulation instead of survival mode.
Hiiiiiii, I'm Kierstin ✨
I'm the founder of Calming Roots, a mom, and a self confessed nerd for a good course and lover of all things salty, foresty and metaphysical.
- Early Childhood Education Diploma
- Infant/Toddler Educator Certification
- Special Needs Educator Certification
- Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant
- Certified Potty Training Consultant
- 2+ decades of hands on experience in PreK classrooms & Kindergarten
- Lesson author for the Institute of Pediatric Sleep and Parenting
These days I spend my mornings teaching Strong Start, a parent participation PreK classroom where parents and little ones learn side by side and my afternoons I spend supporting kindergarten teachers in their classrooms.
The rest of my time goes to my family & supporting moms inside The Calming Roots Nest.
But I need you to know this.. I'm a mom too.
I have hard mornings.
Some days I lose my patience before we've even had breakfast.
Sometimes I yell and swear.
And there have been sooooo many days where I have wished it was bedtime to just get the day over with.
For years I believed that taking time for myself meant abandoning my family and I'm still slowly unlearning that.
In the Nest my biggest priority is to help you see that you can bounce back from the dysregulation and that it doesn't mean that your whole day has gone to shit.
One moment doesn't have to sacrifice and derail the whole day.
I'm just a few steps ahead of you on this path of motherhood. I've got snacks, I've got the flashlight, and I know which way the trail goes from here.
Join me and let's walk this journey together.

Join the NestYou've got questions. I've got you.
"I don't have time for one more thing."
I know. That's exactly why the Nest is built the way it is. The chat is there whenever you have five minutes and a free thumb, even at 2am. Most moms spend 15 to 30 minutes a week, because we focus on one small change at a time, not a total overhaul. And honestly? The time you're spending on power struggle battles right now is far more than this will ask of you.
"I can't afford it right now."
I hear you, and I'd never want you to stretch past what's right for your family. That's why the Nest is month to month with no contract. At $55 a month, it's the most affordable way to get ongoing support from me, far less than private consulting and you can cancel anytime.
"How is this different from other programs?"
You get ongoing support from me and a community of moms while you actually do the work. Instead of purchasing a course and never logging in again... the Nest will help you to stay accountable and make the changes in your parenting that you are desperately searching for.
"What if it doesn't work for me?"
Every child is different, so there's no one script here. We start small, figure out what's really going on for your child, and adjust. If you ever need more personal help... you can add on private text support with me so that I am right in your back pocket for alllll the hard moments.
"How soon will I see results?"
Many moms notice a shift in the first few weeks. Bigger changes in behaviour usually start after 2 to 3 months, depending on how consistent you're able to be. Remember... it's a 1% change every day. Small steps add up faster than you'd think.
"Is this sleep training? Will I have to let my baby cry?"
Never. I don't love the term "sleep training" for exactly that reason. I think of it as sleep learning. Most little ones aren't bad sleepers, they're stuck in a pattern, like being fed or rocked to sleep, and they need gentle help learning a new one. I will teach you how to do that in small, doable steps so that you and your little one are never overwhelmed in the process and so that the results and changes ACTUALLY WORK!
"My child is not neurotypical or has diverse abilities. Will this still work for us?"
As a certified Special Needs Educator, this matters a lot to me. Strategies inside the Nest can be adjusted for your child's diagnosis, sensory sensitive kids and children who need a different approach. Everything inside the Nest is tailored for YOU and your family so that you can crush your parenting goals.
"What ages is the Nest for?"
Babies through kindergarteners. I am a mother to a teenager so if you love the Nest you are always more than welcome to stay inside for as long as you need. My expertise will just move from an early childhood expert into 'real life moments' if your child is older 😅
"How does billing and cancelling work?"
You're billed $55 CAD monthly on the same date you joined. Cancel anytime and you'll keep access until the end of your billing cycle with no further charges. Payments aren't refunded once processed so take a moment to read through everything on this page and make sure it feels right for your family.
"How do I get 1:1 support with you?"
Private text support is available only as an add on for Nest members = $400 CAD for 6 weeks. Join the Nest first, and you can add it anytime from inside our private community.
I'm not going to pressure you to join. That's not how I do things here.
But I will gently say this. Every week you wait is another week of tantrums, 2am wakeups, another week of bracing yourself and counting down until bedtime, another week of going to bed feeling like you fucked up and desperately wanting to change how you are handling things. You deserve better than just surviving your motherhood journey. I WANT YOU TO GET TO A PLACE WHERE YOU ARE ENJOYING IT.
You don't need to be a perfect mom. You just need a safe place and a community to support YOU.
You don't need to have it figured out. You just need someone to walk beside you. That's the Nest.
Come in, take a breath, and let's grow some confident parenting roots together.
